As a dental hygienist who specializes in myofunctional therapy, knowing there are options to further support resolving his diagnosis completely is a light in a dark tunnel.

My husband’s sleep apnea didn’t just show up, in fact, he had breathing and sleep issues since he was young.

He had tried allergy sprays, mouth pieces, nasal surgery, an oral appliance, and has worn a CPAP.

His sleep apnea gave him atrial fibrillation, an irreversible chronic, lifelong condition and will always run a higher risk of having a stroke.

After knowing we have done mostly everything for him -We decided to accept treatment with STELLAR ORTHO and have a MARPE appliance placed. Although his CPAP is assisting him and he is sleeping MUCH better, it’s not something that he wants to use forever.

A MARPE (Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion, a non-surgical orthodontic treatment that widens the upper jaw), is an option to help treat the ROOT of his issue. HIS AIRWAY.

This expansion widens the palate, therefore widens the base of the nose allowing him to be able to sleep and breathe better. If it is easier for the body to move air at rest- the body doesn’t have to work as hard , therefore the effort decreases as well as inflammation from needing to overwork.

All disease starts with inflammation, if we clear that up- we are healthier. He is healthier. I have him around longer 💕
