Shantiniketan is located near Bolpur city of Birbhum district in West Bengal. The place is popular for Visva-Bharati University formed by nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The place is one of the well known weekend destinations for tourists, located approximately 165 km north of Kolkata. Apart from Visva-Bharati other popular tourist points of Shantiniketan are
- Tagore museum
- Sonajhuri Haat or Khoai Haat where tourists can experience village fair, live Baul song, folk song and folk dances.
- Amar Kutir
- Kankalitala temple( one of the Shakti Peethas)
- Nearby villages.

The place is also very popular during poush mela and bosonta utsav.
