Southern Missouri Flooding - Amish Country Crossing

Every time an Amish buggie would cross, I would hold my breath here in Southern Missouri!

This really was nerve-wracking as they crossed this flooded creek road. It's certainly something we will always encourage everyone to turn around and not drown.

An Amish neighbor in the area who was watching also shared that the horses are one of the biggest risks aside from the waters. He was saying some horses are used to fast water like this while others are not and could freak out!

He then shared a story involving this very creek about how his horse and he were swept off their feet, and the horse went over the falls. Remarkably the horse made it and was ok.

But he said it's a reminder after all this time as to how dangerous something like this is and he would never do it again.

As I was leaving there were 3 more buggies getting ready to cross...
It's wild to think that overnight there were about 4 or so more feet of water ripping through this area.

Now I know way back wagon trains and such used to do this and is nothing new, however back then it was also just as dangerous.
