"The biggest impact though is the fact that we're going to be closing these streets down and so between Wednesday and Super Bowl day you'll see more and more restriction as more tourists come into town to enjoy our fabulous city."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Anne Kirkpatrick, New Orleans Police Superintendent:
"What you see in terms of barriers is from the governor. He did an emergency declaration. We obviously did not have these types of assets and so between the governors declaration and the federal "SEAR 1" level that brought in the federal assets, we've been able to provide this type of safety."

"We have to remember what happened on New Year's Eve right or New Year's Day. You want people to be safe and have a good time. I don't like the reason that they're here but I'm glad they are."

STORYLINE:
For security purposes, New Orleans police plan to halt through traffic for the French Quarter heading into Super Bowl weekend.

Barriers and bollards will continue to be added to the area where only first responders will be allowed to drive through.

Some closures are expected to start Wednesday with more restrictions throughout the weekend and will end Monday morning at 10 AM.

The closures are partly in response to the January 1st attack that killed 14 and injured dozens.

In addition to street closures, thousands of state, federal and local law enforcement officers will be on the ground leading up to and during the Super Bowl, New Orleans Police Chief said at a security press briefing on Wednesday.

For Gianna McCarty, it's a weird feeling seeing the National Guard armed in her neighborhood, "I don't like the reason that they're here but I'm glad they are" she said.
