Piston Ring-Land Failure on a BMW N54 Twin Turbo Engine #bmw #fail

While tearing down this engine with low compression on cylinder 6, I found the piston too to be clean relative to the others, indicating coolant may be entering the combustion chamber causing it to be cleaned.
Upon opening the engine, the side of the piston where the piston's rings were completely damaged. This could cause excessive blow by, but more importantly, low compression and a rough running engine.
