UK House Price Predictions 2020 AFTER Lockdown | COVID + BREXIT + RECESSION = House Price CRASH?

Will house prices drop in the UK in 2020? UK property prices have always been a stalwart for sensationalised mainstream media stories, will they finally be right now that they are predicting a house price crash caused by Corona and Brexit?

If you are thinking about selling your house or buying a house in 2020, one thing you will almost certainly be keeping a close eye on is house price predictions and forecasts.

There appears to be widespread agreement that the housing market will drop, with many going so far as to say that it will crash.

If you ask me will the housing market crash in 2020 my answer is no, I think prices will go down but I don't think there will be a crash.

These are some of the reason that UK house prices may drop in 2020:

• Imminent Recession
• Job Losses (Furlough Ending)
• Existing Buyers Reducing Accepted Offers
• The Three D's - Divorce, Debt, Death
• Social Distancing Restrictions
• Help to Buy Ending
• Brexit Uncertainties
• Buyer Inactivity (Waiting for Prices to Drop / Market Clarity)
• Low Deposit Mortgages Disappearing

There are also some factors supporting property prices which have led to house price increases in previous years:

• Pent-Up Demand (Lockdown & Brexit)
• Low Interest Rates (Mortgages are Historically Cheap)
• New Houses less than Population Growth : 2019 = 160,000 Houses vs 0.58% Population Growth (355,000 People)
• Divorces (90,000 in 2018)
• Estate Agents Overvaluing Properties
• Buying is Often Cheaper than Renting (Per Month)
• Investors and Landlords
