Raising day from our May 2022 Timber Frame Class

Some shots of our last Timber Frame class here on the homestead this May. It was an awesome experience with a bunch a motivated individuals. Much of the week we were plagued with rain and winds, but everyone stuck it out and we got the frame finished and up! This frame is a Japanese style timberframe pavilion. Its purpose is to replace the canvas tents we have been using for classes, they work ok for sun, not so much wind driven rain or snow. The frame is 18' square with 6' of overhang on the eve walls. Gable walls will have roll out awnings which can extend the sheltered footprint when needed. Most of the frame is eastern white pine, the three large curved timbers are virginia pine.
