OSAKA Street Food Tour - Dotonbori Eating Street!

I finally made it to Japan!! Going to Japan has been a bucket list of mine for a long time, and my main goal there is to eat! Lucky for me, I was able to meet my friend and Japanese cookbook author Hana Etsuko Dethlefsen who was our tour guide. Visit her at hanaetsuko.com

Osaka is known as the food city of Japan, so much so that they have a saying here "kuidaore" which means to fall over from eating! AND there is even a mascot, kuidaore kun, to go with it! Sounds like our kind of place :)

In this episode we walked around Dotonbori, also known as the eating street (I know...how much better could this get!). We walked and ate and walked and ate until the day was over. I managed to try all the dishes Osaka is famous for such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki.

Travel Tip: Our strategy for dotonbori is to walk around and eat a little bit at each store so you can eat as many things as possible. If you're with a group of people, order something to share so you don't fill up on one thing. If you go into a sit-down place, many will require that you order one thing per person, but it could be a drink. So we got around that by ordering a refreshing beer wherever we went, which paired very well with the sweet-savoury flavours of Osaka foods.

My apologies but I only know the names of 2 places we went to!
- Takoyaki Dotonbori Kukuru, Hakua Building 1F, 1 Chome-10-5 Dotonbori Chuo-ku, Osaka
- Grill Nanpu (where I had omuraisu) 2 Chome-7-4 Nishishinsaibashi, Chuo, Osaka
