Selecting PIDs for Misfire Diagnostics In this short Tech Tip John uses the scan tool's "Data Stream" function to diagnose misfires. Using this function enables a technician to view the actual PIDs that might pertain to the vehicle's issue, such as fuel trim, RPM and crank sensor inputs, oxygen and air/fuel ratio sensor readings, both pre and post Cat. This information can then be used like clues to unravel your diagnostic "mystery".
