Is This The Most Absurd Death In History?

Franz Reichelt. 1912. Austrian tailor.

Convinced he'd invented a wearable
parachute.

Got permission to test it from
the Eiffel Tower.

Everyone assumed he'd throw a dummy
off first to test it.

He didn't.

He wore it himself.

Stood on a table at the platform
for several minutes, hesitating,
in front of a crowd and film
cameras that had gathered to watch.

The parachute never opened.

The footage still exists.

Is this the most absurd death
in history? You decide. 👇
