"Our neighbor Paul Schewe used a chainsaw to carve a 33 foot circle ten inches thick in the ice in front of his home on Cedar Lake, Lake Villa Illinois in February 2026. Then he attached a trolling motor powered by a car battery, which made it revolve slowly. When it was done, he and his family added chairs, drinks and firepit, then invited us and other friends to a spinning campfire gathering at sunset." Credit: Julie Elver
