GIANT MUSSELS!! Low Tide Foraging On The Oregon Coast {CATCH AND COOK}

These Mussels are by far the biggest Oregon Mussels I have ever seen! After a slow day of fishing I decided I would take advantage of the mass amounts of mussels clustered along the rocks that were exposed by the low tide and do a little foraging, as well as a catch and cook video.

Being that I was by myself and on a 5 day trip, sleeping out of my SUV, I wasn't in search of a lot of mussels, I just wanted to harvest what I would be able to cook up for dinner. I decided I would try a recipe that I found online for "Drunken Mussels" which sounded interesting and didn't look like it would be too hard to do. Overall the Catch, Clean and Cook aspect was pretty simple and I think I will start taking advantage of this great resource we have more often.

When it comes to "where to find big mussels" the best time is to wait for a low tide, negative tides reveal even more potential, but you should always be sure to check the tide times for your area and make sure to never underestimate the ocean. All safety precautions should be followed.

Exploring Oregon coast tide pools is always a lot of fun and I was excited to see so much life that most of us don't ordinarily get to see.
There were huge mussels everywhere! never have I seen so many big mussels.
Cooking them up was a lot of fun and I decided to go with a single bite, stuffing the whole mussel in at once.

I hope you guys enjoy the video, as I've never done one like it.
