Clingmans Dome and a Taste of Cherokee

Come join us for an adventure to Clingmans Dome in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We hiked separately to the top, since one of us had to stay with our dog in the parking lot (they do not allow dogs to be on the trails in the national park).

Afterwards we drove down the mountain to Cherokee, NC, where we had a great lunch along the stream. After spending some time in Cherokee (we need to come back for a longer visit!), we headed back into the National Park toward Gatlinburg, where we were camping.

Along the way we stopped to watch a herd of elk in a field along the road. We stopped at NewFound gap, where the Appalachian Trail passes through one of the highest points. NewFound Gap is on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee.
