Learning Rive from Scratch – Day 3 (States, Hover & Interactions)
Day 3 of learning Rive 🚀
In this video, I recreate an SVG icon inside Rive and turn it into an interactive UI animation using states and state machines.
What I learned on Day 3:
• Recreating an SVG icon directly inside Rive
• Proper grouping and correct anchor points (very important for clean animation)
• Creating multiple animation states: idle, active, inactive
• Adding micro animations like dot animation and speech bubble animation
• Connecting animations using the State Machine
• Using triggers and events for transitions
• Adding listeners like pointer enter and pointer exit
• Creating smooth hover interactions (idle → hover → idle)
This is part of my learning Rive in public journey as a beginner.
I’m sharing everything I learn — no shortcuts, no filters.
If you’re a motion designer, UI designer, or just starting with Rive, this series might help you.
👉 Subscribe for upcoming days where I’ll explore buttons, inputs, and real-world UI components.
