You’ve probably heard people use the term “mon ami” in French movies before, but it’s not something we use in French conversation. In fact, using “mon ami” to mean “my friend” in French (as you might do in English) will only make you sound like a tourist, because it’s a total cliché!

Today, I’ll show you why you shouldn't use “mon ami” in French conversation — and what to say instead to save yourself from embarrassment.
