102.70kg Marlin | Game Fishing West Coast NZ

On feb 19 2020 we headed out off the west coast of new zealand to try and catch a marlin. With a late start to the day we got out there by 11:00am and hooked a giant striped marlin by 2.30pm. 4.5 hours into the fight all gopro's had died and the sun was starting to set. by 7.00pm we had no choice but to try and land this fish. We had the leader 3 times before it broke the leader at the boat. It was estimated to be 170kg+. 12hours later and we were back out again the next day to try our luck again. by 10.20am we were hooked up again. 50min into the fight we had it boat side. I sunk the gaff into it and we pulled it over the side. Headed back into shore by 11:00am it weighed 102.70kg.
