Sapphire Marquise bespoke ring - ' Refurbished' and ready to last another generation

In this video jeweller and diamond setter Niels van Dooren is making a white gold ring with marquis cut sapphires. The sapphires where taken from another ring which was worn for many years. Afterwards these where slightly re-polished and mounted in a new 3D created setting. The model was designed using Matrix Gemvision 9.0 and printed on a form2 3D printer from Formlabs. The resin we use is a 3rd party resin from BlueCast from 3D Garage, which provides a very clean burnout.

The seats for the sapphires were cut with a 'hart bur' or chaton frees. Afterwards these where gently hammered down with a homemade pusher. The Jura Artgraver was used to hammer down the white gold sides. Afterwards the golden walls where polished with a rubber disk (blue and pink) to smoothen out the punches from the hammering.

The ring was later polished with high gloss diamond polish and finished in a rhodium bath. The rhodium bath provides a small platinum/rhodium layer which makes the white gold extra white. Also the final picture shows the ring with two 'eternity bands' of 1.30 mm diamonds each. These small rings are micro pavé set using the same technique as you can see on my channel.
