Building a Cocktail Class Racer from a CLC Kit

This is a 1939 design by Charles MacGregor, originally published in The Rudder Magazine as an example of what could be done with a novel new material called "plywood."

The Cocktail Class Wooden Boat Racing Association has revived the old design and has built up the class as a forum for safe, inexpensive racing. More info: https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/powerboats/cocktail-class-racer.html

Chesapeake Light Craft's kit features precise CNC-cut slot-together parts for quick and accurate assembly of a hull that will "measure in" on race day. Add various steering and throttle options and you're racing. Are there cheaper ways to have a good time on the water? I'm sure, but step into a Cocktail Class Racer and you won't stop grinning for days.
