University student facing expulsion for 'standing up for human rights'
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has thrown her support behind University of Queensland student Drew Pavlou as he faces expulsion from the institution following his critique and protests into its ties with Chinese government organisations.
The philosophy student is facing allegations of misconduct levelled at him by the university and faces a hearing into his actions.
A circulated petition has so far gathered thousands of signatures protesting his potential expulsion.
"I just feel the University of Queensland is wrong here," Ms Hanson told Sky News.
"The thing is that Drew is standing up for human rights which I totally agree with him".
