Dee Dee Sharp and members of the Readers & Writers Ink book club discuss Michelle Obama’s New York Times best-selling book, “Becoming.” Guests include UWF Assistant Professor of English Mamie Webb Hixon; retired social workers Claudette Chapman and Joan Henderson; retired educator Shirley Holmes; University of West Florida 2019 alumna Katie Dineen, and UWF student Chrissie Banda. Michelle Obama’s memoir chronicles the journey from her childhood in the Southside of Chicago to becoming a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School, and then to becoming an attorney and meeting and marrying Barack Obama. “Becoming” culminates with the historic, ground-breaking years from 2009 to 2017, when she served as First Lady of the United States.
