How To Submit Your Song For Spotify Editorial Playlist Consideration (Full Walk-Through)
2021 Update: Spotify has changed up their submission form just a bit. It's essentially the same questions, but in a different order as follows...
1: Choose a song to pitch
2: Location - Confirm where the artist is from
3: Add song details
- Choose up to 3 genres.
- Choose up to 2 music cultures.
- Choose up to 2 moods.
- Choose up to 2 song styles.
- What instruments are on the song?
- Is this a cover?
- Is it a remix?
- How was it recorded?
- Is it an instrumental?
4: Add a description (500 characters)
- Tell us about the process of creating this song, as well as any plans to promote it.
5: Review
A lot of artists might not know that you can submit your upcoming song to Spotify for them to consider adding on one of their many Editorial playlists. Although it's not guaranteed, it's possibly free exposure and it doesn't cost anything. In this video, I walk you through the entire process of submitting your song for consideration on Spotify's Editorial playlists.
DistroKid Users: You must have the Musician Plus or Label plan to schedule releases for a future date in order to submit to Spotify. If you have the basic Musician plan ($19.99/year), then you cannot submit your release for Spotify playlist consideration. The only way around is to upgrade your DistroKid plan or use another distributor.
