Robert E.Rockwell, Ph.D. is a Professor Emeritus and former program director of the Early Childhood Education Program at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. He has had experience as a speech pathologist, teacher of the hearing impaired and as an administrator. He has also been a research consultant for the University of Chicago and has served as a national consultant and director for Project Head Start. He is a prolific writer with many articles and books that are in circulation throughout the world. He has been internationally recognized for his contributions in the areas of science, early literacy, family involvement, and nutrition. Some of his well-known publications include Hug a Tree, Mudpies to Magnets, More Mudpies to Magnets, Everybody Has a Body, Linking Language, and Discovery Science: Explorations for the Early Years. Although retired, Bob continues to conduct workshops, give keynote presentations, and write books and articles. He recently completed the 5th edition of his book, Nutrition and the Young Child. His newest early childhood teacher resource book is titled Partnering With Parents: Easy Programs to Involve Parents in the Early Learning Process. He is currently writing a new preschool outdoor science book for Gryphon House, Inc. Recorded: October 2006
