Anthony Newley - "What Kind Of Fool Am I" - 1962

Anthony Newley's iconic song - from his & Leslie Bricusse's 1961 musical show "Stop The World - I Want To Get Off", here the US Broadway version, 1962
He played Littlechap, the little, cheeky but fragile clown, who shows us world and life as a permanent circus in which we all play our part !
In my opinion is this the archetypus of every Newley character that followed, from Cocky, Merkin to Chaplin !
"...What kind of Clown Am I, what do I know of life !
Why can't I cast away this mask of play and live my life...!
I framed this incredible, remarkable song with excerpts from "The Lucy Show - Lucy in London" 1966, Federico Fellini's "the Clowns" 1971 .
I also used the reconstruction of Vaslav Nijinsky's dance to Igor Strawinsky's ballet "Petrushka" from 1911, beautifully danced by Georges de la Pena (from Herbert Ross' film "Nijinsky", 1980)
