The Value of Business Analysis
Whether you are interviewing for a business analyst job or seeking a promotion or just trying to gain credibility for the business analyst role in your organization, you need to be able to clearly articulate the value of business analysis. And the value YOU can create as a business analyst.
All too often, stakeholders and even those who manage business analysts feel we slow things down, add more cost, and create "unnecessary" documentation.
Of course, this is not true! There is an incredible return on your investment in business analysis, and good business analysis adds a lot of value to your organization.
This video looks at all the specific ways business analysts add value, including:
*A quick introduction to Return on Investment (ROI)
*How business analysts actually reduce project costs by reducing rework, reducing requirements churn, and finding more cost-effective solutions.
*How business analysts increase the potential return, or benefits, by discovering new business benefits, prioritization, and facilitating commuinication about the benefits with the business community.
*How business analysts provide a framework where IT can scale, as a small organization grows.
The most effective way to add more value is by ensuring you are not just analyzing the software requirements, but you understand the business process.
