26 Days, 6322 attempts, 45+ deaths past 44%, my new hardest is here: I NEVER DREAM by skywalker14

I was originally planning on beating ICDX before this, but I didn’t like the way ICDX played compared to I NEVER DREAM, so I decided I would skip ICDX and come back to it for the GDDP. This could not have been a better choice.

I ended up getting 46-100 within 3 days of playing, which set me up for a lot of disappointment in the future because I raised my expectations so high after that run. 0-44 is EASILY the hardest part of the level, and the 27-44 ship part only makes it even harder. The last half was very consistent, with only a few chokepoints at 55%, 73%, 85%, and 90%. Thankfully I fluked both the 85% and 90% chokepoints.

I got 73% almost two weeks before I beat it, and since I only passed 73% twice, it was incredibly draining and demotivating to not get any progress for the better part of two weeks. Usually every day I would get a new best, a new best run, or some consistency progress, but that never happened. The day before I beat it I got 80%, which was the breath of fresh air that kept me motivated to beat it. The following day I got 27-100, almost did it again, and then beat it. The euphoria I had after beating an extreme demon for the first time in 3 years was beyond anything I can describe.

This level is truly amazing. For how difficult it is, it got incredibly consistent and fun to play, which honestly made me think of it as an insane demon because I was downplaying my skillset, instead of accepting that I’m actually good enough to beat an extreme demon. I recommend this to anybody looking for an entry extreme, or just to have fun. It’s genuinely an amazing level, and I’m happy to call it my new hardest.
