Yoshi Wada - Earth Horns With Electronic Drone

Side A off of the album Earth Horns With Electronic Drone.

"Necessary reissue of an enormous, seminal drone session conducted by Japanese Fluxus Yoshi Wada and friends. For this recording Wada assembled his self-made 20' and 10' horns at Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, New York on February 24 , 1974, with players including Rhys Chatham, Barbara Stewart, Garrett List, Liz Phillips, and Wada, himself. The spellbinding performance on four pipes revolves around a single drone attuned to the frequency of the space and its acoustic information, essentially recycling the low, bellowing sound of the pipes into a complex yet ostensibly static feedback loop of harmonic overtones and electronic oscillation. This LP version holds the entire 2 hr 42 min performance for those who really want to go out there. Each player in turn contributes to its subtly balanced stasis, immersing us in their radiant circular meditations so deeply that even the slightest fluctuations can become butterfly waves of ear-teasing harmonic intricacy. It feels a far more primal and ritualist sort of minimalism compared with say Glass or Reich, and should be considered closer to the transcendent works of Pandit Pran Nath or Eliane Radigue. "
