Lagina Temple HECATE

More than 5 thousand years the Lagina Temple in the Muğla province, the South-West of Turkey dedicated to Hecate is still keeping its secrets. The Lagina temple is surrounded by the ancient prints. Only the statue of Hecate disappeared. Since the first archaeological investment in 1743 nobody notice her absence till1886.The Statue is generally known as a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman Goddess. But if it can investigated deep enough it may easily be seen that the Lady Liberty’s torch, crown and placement at a crossroads are the symbols of Hecate. Hecate’s is symbolic of enlightenment and she is the Goddess associated with crossroads.
The altar of Hecate in front of her temple was found a long time ago, and now archaeologists have announced they've found the monumental house of her priests, which at some point according to inscriptions on the walls, was inhabited by the high priest named Menestes.
