Tim normally finds that November and December are a really good time of year for finding new and interesting toys, and this year was no exception.

First, an optical illusion game that Tim bought in a London gallery. It consists of well known optical illusions, mounted on thick card and cut into pieces. The task is to arrange the pieces, in order to complete the illusions.

Gustave Verbeek (1867 - 1937) created the next image - these are amazing artworks that show a completely different picture when you turn them upside down!

A battery operated gizmo with a fan inside. Initially Tim thought it was some kind of fan. But in fact it sucks in air - maybe a miniature vacuum clearer? The friend who gave it to Tim was not sure what it was for either!

An optical illusion embedded in a plastic strip - tilt the object to and for and the the image animates.

A small card with separate paper flowers - you choose which ones you want to put in the vase.

A plastic rod with internal lights, which has different light sequences.

A strange object with a small spirit level attached. Tim has no idea what it is. Do you know?

Finally a neighbour gave Tim this item as a Christmas present. Inside the glass bottle, which is spherical, is a fruit liqueur, and on the outside of the bottle is a Christmas scene. But wait - there is more! Turn it upside down and shake it, and it becomes a kind of snow globe, except this globe has flakes of gold floating in it. That is nice. And finally, there is a button underneath - push this and the whole bottle lights up, and the little gold flakes catch the light in a really charming way.
