Steve Price predicts ‘biggest battle’ ever between farmers and the government

Sky News contributor Steve Price is predicting the “biggest battle” ever between Australian farmers and the government after Labor realised its ambition to have Australia powered by 82 per cent renewables in six years was a “crazy pipe dream”.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers warned Australia could not achieve its net-zero emissions targets without more robust interventions from the government.

Mr Chalmers added that speeding up the approvals process was a key issue to attract more investment.

Mr Price warned the Treasurer’s comments should have every Australian taxpayer and business “screaming from the rooftops”.

“If you want to read between the lines there and you can see what's coming,” Mr Price said.

Federal and state Labor governments around the country are going to seize planning approvals; they will ride roughshod over local councils and pass laws that allow green energy companies to start carpet-bombing farmland with solar panels, wind turbines and of course those awful transmission towers to squirt those green power into the grid.”

Transmission companies in south-west NSW and central Victoria are telling farmers that they want to work with them but, if need be, they will get legal access to paddocks for turbines and solar farms, Mr Price claimed.
