New Earning Structure Cause Shutterstock Photographer Revolt

In today's VLOG, we discuss stock photo, video, music, and more specifically Shuttershock who has recently caused a photographer revolt due to it's up and coming change in earning structure.

Unlike in the past, photographers (creatives) slowly built their commission rate over a long period of hard work (lifetime earnings) making up to 30% on ALL licenses. As of June 1st, this structure will be replaced with a flat percentage based on the number of licenses received per calendar year.

The kicker here is that the photographer's " GAME " is reset to LEVEL 1 on the 1st day of the year, every year going forward. Forcing them to start from scratch all the way back to a mere 15% commission from their 20%, 25%, 30%, 35% or even 40% they were making on December 31st.

Building a presence, brand, or even seniority seems to no longer mean anything on the Shutterstock platform.
