Russia and Uzbekistan have moved forward on a major nuclear energy cooperation project, with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stating that a Russian-designed nuclear power plant will be a crucial step toward strengthening Uzbekistan’s energy sovereignty.

During a meeting in Tashkent with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, both sides highlighted expanding economic and strategic cooperation, including trade, investment, infrastructure, and energy development.

Mishustin confirmed that construction of the nuclear power plant has already begun, following agreements between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The project is expected to boost Uzbekistan’s industrial development, create high-tech jobs, and strengthen long-term energy security.

The leaders also emphasized growing trade ties, educational cooperation, and cultural exchange between the two countries.
