Among 2022’s Autotune-Schranz sounds, SCHROTTI STAR ORCHESTER is here bringing Indie-anthems of the 2000s back to life. Through their armada of classroom instruments and their home organ from the 70s, the band members pound themselves hard into the hearts of their listeners. Under the slogan ‘covers are whack’, the trio spare neither Bloc Party nor The Notwist, and also prowl around in the new German musical landscape with Casper, SXTN and Co. - all in their junkyard outfits. ‘Originality is over, from now on we are only the performers’, do Dominika Kocis, Marielle Sterra and Dennis Depta postulate, and with every new song they poke deeper into the wounds of the collapsed Pop music industry. They can paraphrase and chop up - yet their normal life revolves around classical singing (Kocis) in the Berlin State Opera, and around leading the Theater-Festival ‘BERLIN is not AM RING’ as the music theatre collective glanz&krawall (Sterra & Depta).
In their live-shows, SCHROTTI STAR ORCHESTER uncompromisingly make the musical material their own and in charming Denglish pass it off as their own. They manage the impossible - being all at once - a band from Berlin, Las Vegas, Oberbayern and New York, showcasing nothing but hits!
So it becomes clear, the new shit straight outta Berlin is thus old news. In this spirit: GLAM ROCK will never die but YOU WILL.
