"The English Ladye & the (Scottish) Knight" - (Jamie ♥ Claire)- Outlander

PLEASE READ – (Iyrics below): to help soothe your Droughtlander woes, here's a long Jamie & Claire vid - :) The gist of this lovely ballad fits them so well...It’s taken from a poem of an earlier century (by Sir Walter Scott). There are parts I made work to fit J & C's story (i.e. – the part where her brother poisons her with wine, it was actually an enemy acquaintance, though the rest of the brother’s plot I showed for Jamie’s uncle – since he was envious of Jamie, wanted to be laird of the clan, in the end resented Claire and wanted her dead, etc, so I showed him during those lyrics). Since Claire & Jamie did not actually die - the “death” spoken of for my vid refers to their separation of distance and centuries – the painful sacrifice that Jamie & Claire made to protect each other and their child) – which was like a death, a tragedy (like the ballad) since they lost each other for all those years. Also, from what I researched, Carlisle Wall was a fortress of protection – “the sun shines fair” oft repeated, even during the tragic lines, seemed to show that the true dangers were within and not without, the true enemies to their love inside the fortress – as in personal, not just about enemies of war (which also fit for J & C) … her “sire” I showed as the man who was like Jamie’s sire (since C’s father never was shown), having given the jewels to J’s mother in what became Claire's inheritance (as J's wife)…where “he took the cross” –Jamie took it upon himself to fight a losing battle for his clan, in what he felt would lead to his death…”She had lands both meadow and lee” - it was not her lands but his lands, as well as the fealty of the people that Dougal wanted (to be laird & chieftain- over all), though since she was Jamie’s bride, it was Claire’s land/home too, so I felt it worked to show that. The end of vid shows that love is indeed “lord over all”, and they will be together again soon. (Well, in Sept. anyway lol) …symbolism: the green-tinged frames are memories of those having them (those shown in regular color between, also the telling of the tale, the ballad is in reg. color) … the blend of colors is symbolic of the two “enemies” coming together in unity and becoming one (love/marriage) – namely Scottish Jamie and British Claire... no more room to write all the dialogue out, but I think it's pretty clear. Ask if in doubt. :)

"The English Ladye And The Knight" performed by Loreena McKennitt (with Ensemble Plus Ultra & Choristers of Westminster Abbey)

It was an English ladye bright,
The sun shines fair on Carlisle wall,
And she would marry a Scottish knight,
For Love will still be lord of all.

Blithely they saw the rising sun
When he shone fair on Carlisle wall;
But they were sad ere day was done,
Though Love was still the lord of all.

Her sire gave brooch and jewel fine,
Where the sun shines fair on Carlisle wall;
Her brother gave but a flask of wine,
For ire that Love was lord of all.

For she had lands both meadow and lea,
Where the sun shines fair on Carlisle wall,
For he swore her death, ere he would see
A Scottish knight the lord of all.

That wine she had not tasted well
(The sun shines fair on Carlisle wall)
When dead, in her true love's arms, she fell,
For Love was still the lord of all!

He pierced her brother to the heart,
Where the sun shines fair on Carlisle wall -
So perish all would true love part
That Love may still be lord of all!

And then he took the cross divine,
Where the sun shines fair on Carlisle wall,
And died for her sake in Palestine;
So Love was still the lord of all.

Now all ye lovers, that faithful prove,
(The sun shines fair on Carlisle wall)
Pray for their souls who died for love,
For Love shall still be lord of all!

Up next: 2 PotO vids, Leon/Bella, and Outlander… please note, because I have a crazy amount of requests for PotO vids (approx. 60) I am now doing an Outlander vid every 4th video (instead of every 3rd as before) and PotO every other video…
