I Trusted Strangers to Lead Me Into The Most Dangerous Parts of Rio's Favela 🇧🇷

In this video, I take you on an immersive journey through two of Rio de Janeiro's most renowned favelas: Cantagalo-Pavão-Pavãozinho (PPG) and Rocinha.

Cantagalo-Pavão-Pavãozinho (PPG): PPG is a unified community comprising three favelas—Cantagalo, Pavão, and Pavãozinho—situated between the iconic neighborhoods of Ipanema and Copacabana. Home to approximately 5,000 residents, PPG offers one of the most privileged views of the city due to its hillside location near the sea.

Rocinha: Rocinha stands as Brazil's largest favela, located in Rio's South Zone between São Conrado and Gávea. Built on a steep hillside, it overlooks the city and is home to around 72,000 inhabitants, according to the 2022 census.

During my exploration, I was granted access by local mafia to areas seldom seen by outsiders, including a visit to a local residence where I was shown firearms. This experience provided a profound insight into the complex realities of life within these communities.

Join me as I delve into the vibrant culture, resilience, and daily life of PPG and Rocinha, offering a perspective beyond the typical tourist path.
