CATCHING WILD BROOK TROUT WITH 100 YEAR OLD FLY ROD!

I’m a history guy and always have been. So I was super excited to chase some wild brookies on a Hardy bamboo fly rod that dates from 1926, almost 100 years ago. It is called a Palakona “Gold Medal" and was made by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick, Northumberland, England. Alnwick is also the home of some of my ancestors, so it holds a special place in my heart and, as such, I am a big fan of Hardy. This rod was purchased at an auction a few years ago and has sat in my collection gathering dust. And prior to that I’m certain it gathered much more dust. Until now. Paired with a rusty but period-correct reel it was time to hit the creek...

Equipment:
1926 Hardy bamboo Palakona "Gold Medal" Rod
Rusty but serviceable 1920's reel with old fly line
