A Conversation on U.S.-China Relations: Where Do We Go From Here?

As the world grapples with the Covid-19 pandemic, the U.S.-China relationship grows ever more fraught. China's new national security law imposed on Hong Kong, clashes at the Indian border, and an escalating military presence in the South China Sea are all raising fears that China has entered a new and more aggressive posture in the region and towards the world. Is Xi Jinping's power unchallenged inside China? Are we assessing Beijing's strength accurately or overestimating it? Are we looking at a U.S.-China decoupling, or something worse? Former Deputy Secretary of State and former President of the World Bank Group Robert Zoellick and former Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell join Aspen Strategy Group Director Anja Manuel to offer insights into U.S.-China relations and where the United States goes from here.
