Splash Mountain Re-Themed! Our Thoughts

SPLASH MOUNTAIN (at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World) is being re-themed to THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG!

Splash Mountain, a ride based on the Disney movie Song of the South, first debuted Disneyland in 1989 and it was an instant classic (and also Kitra's favorite ride!). The movie Song of the South has long been criticized for its stereotypical and offensive portrayals of African Americans. We are so happy that Disney changing the past and finally erasing Song of the South for good, as the movie cant even be viewed on Disney+ or in the Disney Vault.

We don’t know very many details yet about The Princess and the Frog ride, but we do know this - “We pick up this story after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.” AND this ride will feature Disney's first Black Princess, so that is a HUGE deal and something we are so excited about.
