Dave Tillema, of Southeast Texas, has taken flight on an ambitious journey in the aircraft that he built himself: flying to Oshkosh, Wisconsin (for the 2022 EAA AirVenture fly-in) by way of all lower 48 states in his Zenith CH 750 Cruzer light sport aircraft.
"The journey is progressing well," said Dave: "Soon this Bucket List item will be completed: To land in my airplane in each of the 48 states! I officially started on Saturday, July 9th, in West Texas.
"This will be an all or nothing attempt: Oshkosh or Bust!"
"You can track me live on Flight Aware, as well as the "48 State Challenge" page on Facebook," stated Dave Tillema. "Fellow Zenith builder/pilot Bill Fahey and Jan & Alissa (from Viking Aircraft Engines) are tirelessly coordinating logistics en route, and I continue to appreciate any hospitality, accommodations and/or fuel along the journey. My final stop each day will be determined by weather mostly, so planning for the trip is going to be day by day."
