The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for a severe heatwave in Delhi, with temperatures expected to soar to 45 degrees Celsius. Most parts of the capital will experience extreme heat, alongside warm nights in isolated areas. On June 17, Safdarjung recorded a high of 45.2 degrees Celsius, well above average, while Palam and Ridge areas reached 46.0 and 46.3 degrees, respectively. Relief is anticipated from June 18 as a western disturbance brings sporadic rain and increased wind speeds. Authorities advise precautions like staying hydrated and avoiding direct sun exposure amid the intense heatwave affecting daily life and health.
