Berry Springs Nature Park: Escape The City And Enjoy The Outdoors. MAGNIFICENT BERRY SPRINGS NATURE PARK AUSTRALIA

Berry Springs is one of the most beautiful nature parks to cool off and relax in close to Darwin.

It has great shaded picnic and barbeque areas close to clear swimming pools surrounded by trees and aquatic life.

Native flowers in the park bloom from March to April.

Walkers and bird watchers should take the monsoon forest and woodlands walk, through the Top End habitats.

The park also has remnants of its World War II history, when more than 100,000 armed forces personnel were based in the area.

Berry Springs is an easy day trip from Darwin and can be combined with a visit to the nearby Territory Wildlife Park.

Park and picnic areas are open year-round from 8am to 6.30pm.

The kiosk is open daily from April to October – check opening hours at the booth.

The pools may close for swimming during the Wet Season from October to April due to flooding and water quality. The park remains open for picnics.

Travel south along the Stuart Highway from Darwin. Turn right into Cox Peninsula Road.

Berry Springs Nature Park is 10km along the road on the right.

You can do all of the following activities at Berry Springs Nature Park:

bushwalking
birdwatching
wildlife watching
visit historical ruins
picnicking
swimming – may be closed during the Wet Season from October to April
ranger-guided activities.

Berry Springs Nature Park has all of the following facilities:

kiosk
public toilets
wheelchair access
information signs
picnic area
barbecue
fire pits
ranger station – for emergencies only
drinking water.

When visiting the park, remember all of the following:

put your rubbish in the bin or take it with you
beware of theft, lock vehicles and secure valuables
cultural items and wildlife are protected
pets are not permitted in the park
nets, traps and firearms are not permitted
no fishing
camping is not permitted.

There are varying levels of potentially harmful microscopic organisms found at the park. These can cause gastroenteritis, tropical ear or other infections.

There are also slippery surfaces and varying water depths. For safety reasons, it is essential that you:

do not jump or dive from trees, bridges or concrete edges
supervise children at all times
swim only where recommended, and watch for warning signs.
You can have a safe and comfortable trip to Berry Springs Nature Park by doing all of the following:

observe park safety signs
wear a shady hat, sunscreen and insect repellent
don't take glass near the pools, as breakages are unsafe
stay on marked roads, tracks and parking areas
be careful with fire and light fires only in fireplaces provided
use firewood provided sparingly.
