Hanuman meets Bhima | Sougandhika Harana | Yakshagana | Shri Timmappa Hegde

Hanumanta (or Hanuman) explains his condition saying that the age has dwindled his body unlike the younger latter. In fact so much so that he can't even move his tail with ease. Later, when Hanuman discovers that the latter is Bhima, one of the Pandavas, he introduces himself saying that he is "Maruti" who served Dasharatha's Son (Lord Rama) and has been living since the time of Ramayana.

Sougandika Harana is an interesting story from the epic of Mahabharata where Bhima (one of the five brothers) meets Hanumaan/Hanumantha, a character from the epic of Ramayana. When Draupadi asks her husband Bhima to get Sougandhika flower from the heavens, Bhima goes in search of it and encounters an old Monkey in his way which is no other than old Hanuman from the time of Ramayana. Bhima full of self-esteem underestimates Hanuman just as helpless old monkey but ends up being unable to even move Hanuman's tail. This shatters Bhima's ego and opens his eye.
