Wow! After 12 straight days of traveling through the state of Kerala, India, my trip was finally at an end! Come along with me as I arrive at the Kozhikode airport and make my way back to Miami and get a free business class upgrade on Qatar Airways along the way!

I had a long day ahead of me, as I’d be flying from Kozhikode International Airport to Doha, and then Doha to Miami for a grand total of 24 hours in transit. I’d be flying with Qatar Airways, the best airline in the world. They have the best economy class I’ve ever flown on. It was 12:30 a.m. and my flight didn’t board until 2.

I went through security, got my boarding pass, and continued through more security, and then got access to the Qatar Airways Business Class lounge. I was flying economy but because I have platinum with American Airlines, I can access all One World lounges around the world. I was able to eat and get some water there before calling my family.

They have a few stores and duty-free shops, as well as handicrafts in the airport. I was planning on sleeping on the flight. I was super tired and I knew they would wake me up for the in-flight meal.

To my surprise, they upgraded me to business class! Onboard the plane, they gave me a wine menu and a food menu. I went with some wine and some egg masala. I slept the whole way and then we landed in Doha. I had a 3-hour connection there.

I rode in the Qatar Airways business class bus. I headed through security and headed to the business class lounge. They have great food and a sleep area. They also have showers! I took a quick shower to freshen up and then headed to my gate for my 16-hour flight to Miami!

I was riding in an A350-900 with a 3-3-3 configuration. I had a window seat and I couldn’t wait to start the flight. Qatar Airways really has the best economy class in the world, and their menu always includes an Indian option and alcohol. They also have the best entertainment options with over 4,000 movies and TV shows to choose from, including Hollywood and Indian movies.

For breakfast, I went with some lamb stew, which was my second breakfast! It came with mashed potatoes. It was nice and creamy and also came with bread, fruit salad, and a dessert.

With 14 hours to go, I decided to get some sleep. With 2 hours left until landing, I was excited to land.

Kerala is one of my favorite trips ever. I’m so glad I focused on one state instead of bouncing around to several different ones. This was a road trip and really allowed me to see the state. It also opened my eyes to more of what India has to offer and truly changed my life. I loved every moment of it!
