Breaking Chips in 6061-T6 Aluminum on CNC Lathe
Machine: 2014 Takisawa TC-203J
Material: 6061-T6511 Kaiser Select
OD Roughing Tool: CCGT Aluminum Specific Insert with 1/32" Corner Radius (Iscar 5540018)
ID Tool: CCGT Aluminum Specific Insert with 1/128" Corner Radius (Iscar 5540020)
OD Roughing Parameters: 0.125" Radial Depth of Cut (Stepover), 0.025" per revolution axial feed @ 3600 RPM
ID Roughing Parameters: 0.075" Radial Depth of Cut (Stepover), 0.020" per revolution axial feed @ 3600 RPM
Finishing is done at 4000 RPM. There is a small 3 second pause before the spindle starts to slow down at the end of the video. This is to clear coolant mist from the enclosure when running coolant (normally this part runs with coolant).
