Star Fox Adventures was always the black sheep of the franchise — but coming back to it years later, there’s way more here than people give it credit for. From Rare’s atmosphere and world design to the strange shift away from traditional Star Fox gameplay, this game feels like a forgotten piece of Nintendo history.

In this retrospective, I revisit one of the most unique games on the Nintendo GameCube to see whether it truly deserved the criticism… or if time has been kinder to it than fans were back then.
