Pakistan Advocates Global Action Against Islamophobia, Hate Crimes at UN Crime Prevention Session

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Vienna, Ambassador Kamran Akhtar Malik, addressed the 34th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), outlining the country’s multifaceted approach to combating transnational crime.
Ambassador Malik emphasized Pakistan’s participation in the UNTOC Review Mechanism and initiatives to engage civil society. He condemned rising Islamophobia and xenophobia globally, urging collective action to protect human dignity and inclusive justice systems. Pakistan’s efforts against human trafficking and migrant smuggling were highlighted, with calls for safer migration pathways.
The delegation, including senior officials from law and security agencies, attended side events on judicial reforms and countering violent extremism. Ambassador Malik reiterated Pakistan’s support for the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), advocating for stronger asset recovery mechanisms.
