Horea lungă / Song from Maramures

"Horea lungă" (a variant of "Doina") particularities are instrumental character, very ornamented, and indeterminate content structure. The musician may freely stretch or compress its rhythm, and often will highly ornament each note.

"Tilinca" is a 50 - 80 cm long wooden/metal tube without finger holes, open at both ends. It is held at a slant to the player's mouth and produces sounds by opening/closing the end of the tube with the index finger. It used to be widely spread around north half of Moldova and Transylvania.
