Sehr Performance Machine / Mark's 402 BBC.wmv

Mark had this built once before by another builder who evidently didn't know about the lack of zinc and phosphorus in today's oils and didn't add cam lube to the oil at start up or tell Mark to use race oil or cam lube in subsequent oil changes. That flattened Marks cam and ate his lifters. The debris from the cam and lifters also took out the rod & main bearings and the crankshaft and it could hardly get out of it's own way. At the advise of Steve Koppien of Koppien Automotive, an NHRA record holder, he brought it to Sehr for the rebuild.

We started with a steel 396 crankshaft and added ACL bearings, ARP rod bolts a Melling oil pump. forged pistons and a custom ground roller camshaft from COMP Cams so Mark doesn't have to worry about the oil he uses.

For those that are wondering about the dyno data, the C Torque and C Horsepower columns that follow the Torque and Power columns reflect the output of this engine if it were run at sea level and perfect air instead of at our 1430 foot elevation. Our dyno computer calculates these values automatically so there is a base line to relate to.
