On the Burbank, California sound stage where Johnny Carson and Jay Leno filmed ”The Tonight Show” for more than 40 years, scores of fans now watch pros play “Overwatch.” That stage is called Blizzard Arena now, and it’s a loud, flashy representation of the sea change in media around esports. Competitive video game playing has exploded into a $1.5 billion business, and it’s moving off line into stadiums like this one, where leagues see big profit potential.
