Study Design and Research Methods

In this presentation, Dr. Coughlin will discuss quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods studies and when and how to use them effectively. Carrie Coughlin, MD, MPHS is a pediatric dermatologist, and associate professor of dermatology at WashU Medicine. She is a clinician-researcher recognized for her work advancing care for children with complex skin disorders. She has contributed to collaborative research efforts focused on improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for pediatric dermatology patients. Dr. Coughlin is also committed to mentorship and education, helping train the next generation of physicians and researchers in the field. She is the former chair of PeDRA's Outcomes Committee, and is currently serving at treasurer on PeDRA's Board of Directors.
