What is the difference between WiFi and Cellular?
The main difference between a WiFi and Cellular internet connection is the infrastructure that’s used.

With a WiFi connection to the internet, you’ll be using the modem and router in your home network to connect to the internet. As a result, you’ll be leveraging your existing internet plan with your internet service provider (ISP) to access the internet. With WiFi connections to the internet, your mobile device won’t be using any data, because it’s not leveraging any cellular networks.

The same can’t be said for cellular internet connections.
With a cellular internet connection, you’ll be accessing the internet via cellphone towers in the area.

In accessing the internet through cellular towers (and more specifically your cellular network), a cellular internet connection uses data that is part of your phone plan.

What is faster, a WiFi internet connection or a cellular internet connection?
When it comes to performance, you’ll get a better internet connection with a WiFi connection to the internet. Whether or not you get faster internet speeds with a WiFi internet connection will depend upon the internet plan you have with your ISP.

Regardless of the internet plan you have with your ISP, you should experience lower latency/delay in your internet communications when you’re connected through WiFi.

So if you plan on gaming or holding a Facetime conversation, you’re better off with a WiFi internet connection.
